Sea Turtles
Pacific Green Sea Turtles, or Na Honu Kai, live well over 100 years, weigh 300–400 pounds at adulthood, with shells up to 4 feet long.

While resting, Sea Turtles can hold their breath for up to 5 hours.

The Sea Turtles born in Hawaiian waters leave their birth waters to roam the ocean for the first 25 years of their lives then return, having grown to the approximate size of a dinner plate, and remain in their home waters for the remainder for their lives.

See you on the Na Pali coast!

Posted November 25, 2008: Every year the koholā, or humpback whales, return to the islands from the Alaskan waters in the early fall (like now). While about 38% of them go to the waters off of Baja California and Japan, most of the rest come here, to the islands and Kauai. The Kumulipo, the Hawaiian chant of creation, tells of the birth of the whale, and the whale’s presence in such an important Hawaii’s cultural chant speaks of the great respect we had/have for this incredibly large (45 tons), gentle and powerful creature.

Respect
Although there’s been environmental damage to the whale’s native habitats, they return here in great numbers, and our captains show great respect for these gentle giants. In return, they seemingly reward us by appearing commonly on our tours, leaping, playing and displaying their acrobatic prowess to those willing to watch. Some of our tours have been known to see more than 30 sightings in one four hour period!
